An inscription discovered in Baetica and wrongly read by the publishers, was understood only late. The first reading, erroneous, gave rise to an impossible social situation of the Roman point of view : a slave would have had his statue on the forum of Lucurgentum ! More recent works allowed to correct this initial error and to restore the text, a testimony of the essay of upward social mobility of an emancipated slave, an evergete offering among others a statue of the god Ianus Pater.

L'articolo prende in considerazione opere di tre autori, due australiani, Nicholas Jose e Gail Jones, e uno italiano, Isaia Iannaccone, i quali, secondo una tendenza oggi piuttosto diffusa, presentano forti collegamenti con la Cina. The paper is about a contemporary tendency among writers from non-Chinese countries to write novels that present deep connections with China. The authors taken into consideration are from Australia: Nicholas Jose and Gail Jones, and from Italy: Isaia Iannaccone.

Libanius’ speech IX reveals the persistence in Libanius of the interest in the religious dimension, free from the polemical tones adopted elsewhere. A global cosmic perspective pervades the speech. The Kalendae Ianuarie festival, marking the beginning of the new year, was a parenthesis of joy and carefreeness for all the inhabitants of the empire, regardless of their religious beliefs. This paper is an analysis of the stylistic function of phraseology in three contemporary novels, originally written in English —Enduring Love, by Ian McEwan; The Road, by Cormac McCarthy; and Midnight’s Children, by Salman Rushdie—, and their corresponding translations into Catalan —Amor perdurable, La carretera and Els fills de la mitjanit. Tutkin työssäni Ian Rankinin dekkarin Black and Blue yhteiskuntakuvausta, jossa menetelmällisenä pohjana käytän kulttuurintutkimuksen eri teorioita. Tutkin miten yhteiskunta ja sen instituutiot näyttäytyvät romaanin luomassa maailmassa. Esittelen kirjan representoiman yhteiskunnan tyypillisiä edustajia sekä yksilöinä että ryhminä. Tutkin kirjan yhteiskuntakuvausta myös dekkarin konventionaalisten osien ilmenemisen mukaan, kuten rikos tapahtumana, uhri ja syyllinen henkilöinä ja tutkiva poliisi tapahtumien analysoijana.
